Product Description

The courseware is an introduction to the three fundamental concepts in accounting: the separate entity concept, the accounting equation and the dual effect of double entry transactions (debits and credits). The purpose of these three bite-sized training sessions is to introduce you to bookkeeping and accounting and to put the subject into context. It is an essential pre-cursor to your further accounting studies.

The three bite-sized topics cover:
An introduction to T-accounts and the general (nominal) ledger
An introduction to the Trial Balance, Statement of Profit & Loss (Profit & Loss account) and the Statement of Financial Position (Balance Sheet).
The Statement of Profit & Loss (Profit & Loss account) and the Statement of Financial Position (Balance Sheet). They are the end of the bookkeeping journey –the summary of a business’ transactions for a period and its closing financial position.
This is where the “accounting” can start – interpreting what these statements say about the business and how they can be used by management to plan and manage the business into the future.
These training sessions include interactive presentations with voice-overs, supported by transcripts, practice activities and answers.
There are also useful flowcharts depicting the structure of a typical accounting system.
Additionally, there are aide-memories and accounting games, designed to help make what you have learned “stick”.

Exam Procedure
In order to sit an AAT exam, candidates need to be registered. Information on this process can be found on -https://www.aat.org.uk/register/student-start
If you are willing to take the full Level 2 Certificate in Accounting, this can be done on-line from a link from the above page. This takes you to: https://www.aat.org.uk/register/student
If you are willing to take the Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping instead, you will need to download a hard copy registration form. This can also be obtained from the initial link shown above. This takes you to https://www.aat.org.uk/sites/default/files/assets/AAT
The forms also often ask for your Unique Learner Number. If you don’t have one you can ignore this, as it is not needed.
The main training provider referred to above does not have to be the one where you sit the exam. The AAT has a search facility that allows candidates to find those CBT centres closest to them. The link for this is:http://www.aat.org.uk/assessment/assessme
