This courseware combines the concepts of A2 and AS psychology which acquaints them with the fundamental concepts of psychology related to the behavioral and cognitive aspects.

A level in Psychology pushes students to learn different aspects of behavior and thought processes and the manner in which these affect several phases of a human life.
The ever-changing subject of psychology provides the students with new information and studies consistently.

This distance learning course comprises 2 units, with each unit having 3 modules that are further broken down into several other topics. In unit 1, there is an additional module, which discusses the concept of psychological methodology.

At the start of this courseware, students go through an introductory assignment, wherein a brief introduction is given by them to their respective tutors. Each unit has three tutor-marked assignments, which the students have to send to their tutor after the completion of every unit.
On completion of every topic in a module, student’s progress is tested through a revision exercise, based on evaluation; the understanding of the student is assessed. The length of the topic varies in accordance with the level of detail and information required.

This distance learning course encompasses the study of several case studies of research and theories along with their methodological details and inferences. Students are advised to have a notebook, index cards and a practical a file, wherein they can jot down the key words, studies and researchers, which they go through in the sessions. This helps them during revision and evaluation skills.

Basic English reading and writing skills, as full tutor support is given.

The Examination:
The course is examined in below components:

Unit 1 PSYA1 Cognitive Psychology, Developmental Psychology and Research Methods 50% of the total AS marks, 25% of the total A2 marks.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes.
Structured compulsory questions based on Cognitive Psychology, Developmental Psychology and Research Methods. Questions include short answer, stimulus material and one 12-mark question requiring extended writing in which QWC (quality of written communication) will be assessed. Available January and June.
Unit 2 PSYA2 Biological Psychology, Social Psychology and Individual Differences 50% of the total AS marks, 25% of the total A2 marks Examination
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes.
Three compulsory structured questions, one based on the Biological Psychology content, one based on the Social Psychology content and one based on the Individual Differences content. Questions include short answer, stimulus material and one or more 12-mark questions requiring extended writing in which QWC will be assessed. Available January and June.

Unit 3 PSYA3 Topics in Psychology, 25% of the total A Level marks
Duration:1 hour 30 minutes
Three essay-style questions chosen from eight topics, the following four are available in this course. (c) Relationships (d) Aggression (g) Intelligence and learning (h) Cognition and development QWC will be assessed in each essay Available January and June.

Unit 4 PSYA4 Psychopathology, Psychology in Action and Research Methods
25% of the total A Level marks. 2 hours.
Three sections
Psychopathology: One essay-style question on Depression. QWC will be assessed in this essay.
Psychology in Action: One question on Addiction
Research Methods: One compulsory structured question.
Available January and June
AS + A2 = A Level
